A total of 3,631 undergraduate students have applied for one of the many Master’s degree programmes offered by Business and Social Sciences. The vast majority of the applicants have been admitted to their preferred degree programme.

For the first time, there has been a national coordination of the deadline for applications for Master’s degree programmes. Thus, the deadline has been moved this year from 1 June to 1 April in order to give equal status to all applicants and to allow for an early announcement of the candidates who have been admitted to their first-choice programme, provided that they meet the official entry requirements.
Screening is important
According to Peder Østergaard, Vice-Dean, Director of Education, the entry requirements for students on especially the MSc in Economics and Business Administration and the MA in International Business Communication have been clarified, as these programmes were subject to restricted admission last year. The entry requirements have been clearer and more rigid than previous years.
– We have carried out a more extensive screening of all applications for the Master’s programmes than previous years, and despite discussions of restricted admission last year, the screening process now allows students at Business and Social Sciences to be admitted to their first-choice programme, says Peder Østergaard.
This means that only the MA in Corporate Communication and the Danish programme 'Virksomhedskommunikation' has been subject to restricted admission.
International degree programmes highly popular
Almost half (44%) of all students who have applied at Aarhus University have decided to take their Master’s programme at Business and Social Sciences. This makes Business and Social Sciences the largest main academic area at Aarhus University in terms of the number of applications for the Master’s programmes. It should be noted, however, that a number of foreign applicants failed to meet the official admission requirements.
At the same time, Business and Social Sciences has the sharpest international profile of all main academic areas. 75% of all students who have applied for an English-language programme or on the basis of a foreign degree programme chose Business and Social Sciences as their place of study.
It is still possible to submit applications for the Master’s programmes that are not subject to restricted admission.
