New degree course in ethics this autumn

This autumn, new study-specific subjects within ethics and management will be offered to BSc students in Economics and Business Administration at Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences.

2011.02.17 | Cecilie Holmgaard Petersen

Economics and business administration combined with ethics and management will give students the opportunity to work with management and organisational theory from a humanistic perspective. Therefore, the new subjects will be a supplement to the social scientific approach which generally characterises the field of economics and business administration.

- The degree course will provide students with skills to analyse organisational problems within ethics and management. At the same time, they will gain experience with practical tools and theories for implementing processes of change and innovation, says Anne Marie Olesen from the Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas, who will be one of the teachers on the new degree course.

Cooperation across faculties
The study-specific subjects are part of a wider range of electives now available within economics and business management, and they fall perfectly in line with the strategic focus on "sustainable growth through innovation" at the former Aarhus School of Business. At the same time, the new degree course is an example of the ability to cooperate across the different faculties.

The subjects will be offered to all second-semester BSc students in Economics and Business Management. No students have been signed up for the degree course yet, as the last details are being put into practice, and students will therefore not be able to sign up until spring.
