How do I search

I can’t remember how to spell the author’s name –what do I do?

Enter a question mark (?) instead of the letter you are unsure of, e.g. Su?anne Br?gger

I get too many hits – what do I do?

  1. Limit your search by using the ‘options’ shown on the left.
  2. Example: Choose one or more options with exactly the type of material you would like or the language you want, etc.
  3. Remove the options you don’t need by clicking ‘Remove’ to the right of the option.

The options you have selected or deselected are shown at the top against a yellow background.

Note: The list of options and the individual options can be expanded further.

I don’t get enough hits – what do I do?

  • Enter * after a word – then you’ll get more hits. Example: Write photo* to search for words beginning with photo, e.g. photos, photocopying, etc.
  • Think about your search word: common, frequently used words give many hits. Rare words give fewer hits. The more words you write, the fewer hits you get!
  • If, for example, you search for a topic written in two or more words, enclose them in inverted commas, e.g. “Business to business marketing”.

How do I find material (e.g. an article) about a specific model, concept or theory?

Example: You want to find an article about Kanter’s ‘segmentalism’ concept.

  • Write: Kanter segmentalism in the search field.
  • Check the result to see if there are books and/or full-text articles about this topic.

In the article section, do a full-text search. This gives you an opportunity to search for quotations, models, theories and the like that only exist in the text itself!

How do I find the latest articles about a topic?

  1. Search for the topic ‘management theory’. The system searches for both books and full-text articles at the same time.
  2. Choose ‘See all xx articles’.
  3. Sort by ‘Year’ (most recent) using the button at the top right corner.

How do I see which books are available at my library?

How do I see what books my faculty or department library has about a specific topic?
Example: You want to find books about a social science methodology available at your library.

  1. Write: social science* methodology* in the search field and click on ‘Search’.
  2. Find the option ‘Owner library’.
  3. Find your library on the list and select it. If your library is not on the list, try to expand the list. If you still don’t see your library, it means that it has no books matching this topic description.

How do I order?

How do I order a book that is on loan?

There are three ways of ordering:

1. Order from the result list – use the order button. You will be asked to log in.

2. Enter the item and add to cart. You can now go to your cart, the log and see where the book is. You can then choose to collect it in person (‘Pick-up possible′) or order it.

3. Place the titles you wish to order in the cart and order them all at once.

Where can I see my orders?

  • If you log in, you see a link to ‘Your loans and reservations′ and ‘For pick-up′.

Where can I see if any materials are available for collection?

  • If you log in, you can see a link to ‘For pick-up′.

Where can I collect the books I've ordered?

If you are registered as a user, you have automatically been allocated a favourite library.

A favourite library is the one where you normally collect the books you order. You can order books from your own library, another Aarhus University library, or a library outside Aarhus University.

You can change your favourite library by going to ‘CART′ and going to the link at the bottom of the cart.
We recommend that you log in and check which library is your favourite library.

If you aren’t registered as a user at Aarhus University Libraries, you can register here via WAYF.

How do i transfer information about a book or an article to e.g. Refworks?

  1. Find the book or article you need.
  2. Add it to your checklist and select it.
  3. Click on Refworks and, once you have logged in, your reference will have been imported.

Note! The checklist is only saved if you log in and out again.
