John Thøgersen is professor in economic psychology at Department of Marketing and Statistics. John Thøgersen is coordinator of the Forum for Social Science Research concerning the Environment and the Marketing and Sustainability Research Group. Moreover, he is connected to MAPP – Centre for research on customer relations in the food sector.

Current research projects

  • Motives of Organic Food Buyers in China, Brazil and Europe. Financed by a grant from Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, the Sino-Danish network activities, 2009-10
  • FEEDBACK motivated electricity saving in the home based on visualization and new measurement technique. The project is sponsored by ELFOR in 2006-2008 and is carried out in collaboration between a number of research institutions and private companies (see http://www.akf.dk/feedback/).
  • Moral norms and environmentally significant consumer choices, MESSIC. Sponsored by Danish Social Science Research Council in 2004-2007.
  • Consumer decision-making on organic products, CONDOR. An international project with partners from eight European countries, financed by EU's 5th framework programme. John Thøgersen is the manager of the Danish part of the project, which is carried out by MAPP.
  • Breaking the habitual choice of private cars. Sponsored by the Danish Environmental Research Programme in 2000-2004 as part of the Centre for Transport Research on environmental and health Impacts and Policy (TRIP).

Before joining Aarhus School of Business in 1986, John Thøgersen held positions at Aalborg University, Copenhagen University and University of Sussex. He also worked a period as academic secretary for the Unemployment Research Initiative, Danish Social Science Research Council.

John Thøgersen is currently teaching courses in:
